Portsmouth Aikido is a 501(c)3 educational non-profit organization dedicated to practicing and teaching the traditional Japanese martial art of Aikido. We have been in continuous operation since 1995, and in that time we have instructed hundreds of students in the New Hampshire seacoast.
Our goal is to provide top notch instruction and a positive community for kids and adults to learn Aikido. In our training, we aim to develop effective technique that doesn't rely on brute force and does not harm the attacker or allow oneself to be harmed.
Our practice includes partnered techniques (pins and throws), weapons (sword, staff, and knife) and ukemi, the art of falling and rolling. In a typical class, we bow in, warm up with stretching and conditioning exercises, and continue with paired practice.

In addition to our children's and adult Aikido classes, we offer regular instruction in Tai Chi and Japanese calligraphy taught by some of our favorite local instructors. As a service to the community and to give back to those who have given so much for our community and out country, Portsmouth Aikido offers free classes for Veterans and Uniformed Service Personnel twice a month.
Visitors are always welcome, and you can try your first class for free. If you have questions, don't hesitate to call us at 603-275-1262 or contact us using the form below.
